The first production of Landrover SERIES 1 was in the year 1948
at Amsterdam motor show. These land rovers were built of a lightweight rustproof alloy of aluminum and magnesium called Birmabright.
The SERIES 1, hit the road in the same year and were brought in Darjeeling by British tea planters to use as a mode of transport in tea gardens.
Later during the 60s when British planters left, the land rovers stayed back
and now are owned by travel operators and locals to earn their living.
